Salon VIP first opened its doors in 1994 in Point Loma, San Diego. At the time, Elizabeth was running a fast-paced, upscale salon, while little Zé would playfully run around, pretending to be a hairstylist. Years later, Elizabeth made the decision to close Salon VIP and focus on raising her family, though she always knew she would return to the salon world.

Zé, inspired by his early memories, pursued a career in hairstyling. He graduated from the Paul Mitchell School in Downtown San Diego and honed his craft by working at some of the most renowned salons in the city.

In 2019, Elizabeth and Zé reunited to open a new chapter—Salon VIP in Mission Valley. Together, they created a welcoming, upscale salon with a team of exceptionally talented stylists. Over the next five years, they navigated a global pandemic and successfully built a thriving, four-station salon that quickly became a local favorite.
In December 2024, Zé took the next step in the salon’s journey by relocating Salon VIP to the vibrant, trendy neighborhood of University Heights. With a renewed vision and the same commitment to excellence, they’re excited to offer clients a truly VIP experience.
